As a coach, I find that athletes tend to have a very distorted view of what “good” training is.
Many people think “Wow, I got off my butt twice this week, I’m AWESOME!” Compared to the average population you ARE awesome, but compared to your competitors you’re losing ground.
GOOD training is CONSISTENCY.
Let’s create one of those handy little grading rubrics everyone loves so much:
Great Training: 95% completion of training schedule.
Good Training: 85% completion of training schedule.
Average Training: 75% completion of training schedule.
Poor Training: Anything less than 75% completion.
If you want to move UP in your age group/division/class, you NEED Good or Great training.
Don’t sell yourself short by training at “Average.” You’re better than that.
